Sustainable development

 The Concept

“Development that meets current needs without compromising the capacity of future generations to meet their own needs”.

This concept was proposed by Mrs. Gro Harlem Brundtland, the Norwegian Prime Minister in a report for the Global Environmental and Development Commission of the United Nations entitled “Our common future”, in April of 1987.

The report cited the main components for sustained development: environmental protection, economic growth and social equality.
