The History of Dacarto S/A Indústria de Plásticos
On August 16, 1968, the company Dacarto S/A Indústria de Plásticos was created, headquartered in Osasco, State of São Paulo, with a factory in the Limão District in the capital, São Paulo.
Its goal has always been to produce and sell PVC Compounds, based on technical, commercial and administrative knowledge that its four Brazilian founders held.
The company was founded with the initial goal of maintaining small scale production, which expanded quickly: in 1970 it had already consolidated its operation into three lines of granulation acquired with its own funds, and in 1972 it created a new affiliate in Lapa that provided it with new production lines.
It began to offer rigid and flexible PVC Compounds to a variety of different markets, from wires and cables, to shoes, packaging, auto parts, food industry products, pharmaceutical and hospital, tubes and connections, among other things.
In 1974, after a land acquisition, construction was started on the current Osasco plant. In 1975, the entire production line from the old factory was transferred to the new one, and new lines were incorporated for greater productivity.
The company continued to expand quickly and was soon a market leader.
The company associated itself with key raw material producers, and in 1986 the factory in Bahia was inaugurated, Dacarto do Nordeste S/A Indústria de Plásticos – DANESA, in Simões Filho, near Salvador, which started production in 1987. This factory is constantly undergoing expansion.
More than 2000 formulas have been developed to meet a variety of domestic and international needs.
The company has been lauded twice by the Magazine Exame as being one of the best annual performers in the Plastics and Rubber sectors.
In 1996 the company obtained ISO 9001 certification, the first PV and PVC Compounds company in Latin America to do so.
Benvic Worldwide and Brazil
Solvay started industrializing plastic materials through PVC in the 1950’s using a process developed in its laboratories.
Due to the need to make additives to PVC for its correct transformation, the group began to supply it immediately with specific formulas, in powder or granulated forms: PVC Compounds.
The Solvay group has been present in Brazil since 1941 with Indústrias Químicas Eletrocloro, which started PVC resin production in 1956, and in 1957 it started producing PVC Compounds.
The company name changed in 1989 from Indústrias Químicas Eletrocloro Ltda. to Solvay do Brasil S.A., strengthening the corporate image of the group.
In 1998 the group reorganized and created Solvay Benvic do Brasil S/A., focusing on the production and sale of PVC Compounds.
In October of 2000, it associated with Dacarto S.A.- Indústria de Plásticos, forming Dacarto Benvic S/A.
In 2003 the name was changed to Dacarto Benvic Ltda.
